Who We Are

Our Vision

We long to see people and communities transformed by the power of the gospel, with a wholehearted love for God and selfless love for others.

Our Mission

We are committed to moving toward Jesus together, becoming more like him in how we engage our community and world.

Our Values

Truth and Grace

Jesus is the source, embodiment, and witness of truth. He proclaimed the Word of God and lived in faithful obedience to all God’s commands. As followers of Jesus we too are called to hold fast to the truth of God and to grow in our commitment to all God has declared to be true in Scripture. We must also recognize the infinite amount of grace that Jesus extended throughout his life and in all his relationships, and continues to extend to us today. Because of Jesus’ example, we strive to hold what we believe to be true about God and His word, while at the same time giving grace in abundance to ourselves and to others.

Compassion

Throughout the Gospels, we see Jesus’ compassion toward the broken, weary, and those on the margins of society. As we move toward Jesus together, we too must have compassion for our neighbors by alleviating suffering and working toward justice. We want to see people and communities flourish. Therefore, we must meet them in their pain, walk with them in their struggles, and contribute to the common good of all.

Deep and Diverse Fellowship

Jesus intentionally cultivated close, meaningful relationships with his followers and wanted them to do the same. He brought together people from all walks of life and backgrounds. With these examples in mind, we want to pursue deep, intentional relationships with one another, recognizing that we cannot move toward Jesus alone. We also want our church to reflect and represent our broader community. We hope to be a truly diverse church that God redeems, refines, and repurposes for His glory.

Dignifying All

Jesus engaged others according to the inherent worth he knew they possessed having been created in the image of God. He also delighted in teaching and equipping all people according to the work God prepared for them and the gifts God had given them. He called many different kinds of people without restrictions, favoritism, or partiality. We want to be a church that embraces the God-given dignity of all people. We want to celebrate gifts and help people pursue all that God calls them to be.

Invitational

Jesus sought every opportunity to meet people, share life with them, and invite them to learn more about all God is doing in order to redeem his beloved creation. As we move toward Jesus together, we want to emulate his invitational lifestyle. We want to be hospitable, generous, and curious. Most of all, we want everyone to know that the true gospel is good news for every person. It is our deepest hope and driving passion to invite everyone to come and see who Jesus is and experience his love for them.

Our Beliefs

Manhattan Covenant Church is a church plant of the Evangelical Covenant Church.

The Evangelical Covenant Church (ECC) is a rapidly growing multi-ethnic denomination in the United States and Canada with ministries on five continents of the world. Founded in 1885 by Swedish immigrants, the ECC values the Bible as the Word of God, the gift of God's grace and ever-deepening spiritual life that comes through faith in Jesus Christ, the importance of extending God's love and compassion to a hurting world, and the strength that comes from unity within diversity.

The ECC upholds six affirmations, which are also a part of Manhattan Covenant’s core beliefs.

  • We affirm the centrality of the Word of God.

  • We affirm the necessity of the new birth.

  • We affirm a commitment to the whole mission of the church.

  • We affirm the church as a fellowship of believers.

  • We affirm a conscious dependence on the Holy Spirit.

  • We affirm the reality of freedom in Christ.
